Radiators rust internally which results in it producing black iron oxide (sludge). This moves around the heating system, with it blocking pipes, valves and boilers (pumps/heat exchangers/diverter valves).
Power flushes work by connecting to your central heating, this then cleans the whole system without you having to take off all of the radiators.
When your central heating system has a power flush it will start to loosen the rust. The sludge will then flow from the radiator and is collected at a magnet filter. This is continued until water samples of all of the radiators and pipework are clean and the PH is neutral.
There are a number of benefits of having a power flush carried out, some of these include:
- A faster radiator heating up time
- Radiators producing more heat
- Boilers run quieter
- The overall central heating system is much quieter
- There are no cold spots on the radiators
- It can result in a cheaper gas bill
- Better hot water temperatures
- Much less of a risk of a breakdown
